About

The Hayward Curling club was started in 2024 by a small but dedicated group of curlers who found themselves in Hayward, WI, wishing for a curling club close to home. They have curled at regional clubs including Duluth, Green bay, Appleton, Superior and Rice Lake.

Winter of 2024-2025 was the founding of our club. We curled on outdoor natural ice on an above ground half size rink with two sheets. 60 people joined us during the course of the highly weather dependent season.

Now for our second season, we are achieving one of our goals for 2025 with a dedicated building and clubhouse, at what is currently the Wayside Inn, north of Hayward a few miles on Highway 63.

Whether you are an experienced curler, someone who has tried it and thought “That was fun! I wish we had it in Hayward…” or are someone who’s ready to just get off the couch and try something new, we would love to hear from you.

Curling is an inclusive sport that welcomes people of all body types, abilities and ages. There is a way to participate in curling for you, including stick curling (stand don’t slide) and wheelchair curling.

Curling is also a social sport that is as much or even more about camaraderie as it is competition. Whether that’s enjoying a pot luck before the game, sharing a beer afterwards (or during!), or getting together with curlers from all over the country at a bonspiel (curling tournament), the heart of the sport is community. It’s a great Wisconsin pastime to help get through our long winters.
